Savas Opens Up About His Mission and Biggest Challenges

Savas first discovered football when she was just playing around with her older brother. What began as a fun pastime slowly turned into a real passion. When she didn’t make it to the final squad early on, Savas realized she needed to train harder and become better.

After a friend invited her to join Tigers Football Academy (TFA), she became interested because TFA offered something special a chance to study abroad through football. Her experience at TFA has been nothing short of special. The strong family atmosphere made her feel right at home, especially with Coach Matt, who treats every player like his own child.

In the beginning, Savas faced challenges as she received a lot of feedback from Coach Matt. But instead of feeling discouraged, those lessons motivated her to keep improving. The support from the coaches helped her grow both as a player and as a person inspiring her to dream of playing in international leagues someday.

One of the first things she learned at TFA was discipline and the basics of coaching, which gave her a glimpse of what it feels like to be a coach herself. She also became more consistent, punctual, and learned to play in a faster, more efficient, and tactical way.

Playing in Myanmar and Japan was a huge milestone in her journey. Every match brought its own challenges, but Savas stayed positive and determined. Her journey abroad began when she joined the league team, which eventually led to a national team recommendation. From there, she competed in Palembang before representing Indonesia in Myanmar and Japan.

TFA played a major role in that journey. The coaches and teammates constantly supported her and helped her build confidence. One message from Coach Matt that stays with her is “Happy, keep strong, have fun, and be your best.” Over time, Savas learned to stay calm under pressure. She used to get nervous easily, but Coach Matt would always remind her “You can’t play football if you’re nervous.”

Since then, Savas has learned that confidence is just as important as skill. It’s okay to feel nervous before a game, but on the field, you have to believe in yourself.

When a university in the United States showed interest in her, Savas felt truly grateful. For her, it was a reminder that hard work always pays off. She’s now determined to keep playing football while continuing her studies abroad. Savas dreams of becoming a professional footballer who can play overseas and help bring her team to the international stage.

Her message for young players : “Stay motivated, keep training, and never give up. Feeling tired is normal, but if you train with joy in your heart, the tiredness won’t even matter.”
